The beauty of Russian Hill is IT has EVERYTHING… and if it doesn’t it’s definitely close by. Let’s start with Cheese Plus aka Cheese’s, a quarter of a block away from my house. As ohhellologan pointed out in her previous post; This place is BOSS.

So where’s all the damn chocolate you say? It’s on a Flapjacks.

A Flapjacks is an Oatmeal Square – yes heart healthy rolled oat’s, glued together by natures gold - HONEY, with half dipped in anti-oxident rich DARK CHOCOLATE. It was so good I want one right now. Accompany with milk and you just embraced the food gods. Too bad I broke that Giants All-Star Game glass shortly after.

The Battle of Two Melts

It all started with this guy… We call him Emery Meeks.

If you can believe it he works at Vsattui, yes the world class vineyard in Napa Valley. Naturally he was doing me a favor as I was picking him up from work, when he got in my car with a Wino’s delight. Yes, that’s right, herb focaccia, sourdough baguette, brie cheese, and tallegio italian cheese. The tallegio was an impulse buy and so amazingly stinky… Think sweaty wet soccer cleat or better yet a maggots fart. But when you spread it on bread, (you know it melts at room temperature), it’s transformed into a heavenly buttery salty nutty savory bite. This is where I stepped it up a notch.

To preface this, I am a BIG fan of melts, and I’m an even BIGGER fan of combining random ingredients to form a flavor masterpiece.

BLADOW

Melt #1 -pictured left- combines california complete protein bread, smothered in olive oil parmesan, toasted, with tellagio cheese and smoked ham.

Melt #2 -center- CCCP bread, again smother in olive oil parmesan (standard), toasted, with brie cheese, turkey pastrami, and italian salami.

THE WINNER ISSSSS – BOTH, hahhahahahha GOTCHYA.

Served with a side salad and toasted herb focaccia. Garnished with sauteed red bell pepper and onions mixed with yellow mustard. I also had some left over pickled jalapenos and spicy carrots from my super favorite Mexican Restaurant Taco’s La Playita. Bon Appetit.

Good Friends + Cooking Good Food = Overdose. A Series.

Flavor Journal. Entry 4 of 4.

To conclude this mouthful of flavor madness I will introduce a Cowabunga Camp Camanche favorite – slow cooked BBQ Pork Chops. As you can see the cook peering over the feast she was working overtime monitoring our food line skills. Margaret blew us away with her fall off the bone slow roasted moist as the day is long Pork Chops. I pushed my lifesaving skills to the max when I saved these little piggies from the pool of sauce they spent a full day in. To intensify the deliciousness they were served with pesto tortellini, BBQ baked beans, and an American favorite MAC & CHEESE!.
